Design of `Firebowl No. 1`
Selfportrait with OLYMPUS SP-600 UZ, 20th April 2013

First contact with ceramic artcraft design happened in 1982 during the familiars Rosemary participation in Popular Highschool (VHS) Artcraft Courses at Weilmuenster Basic School, directed by professor Schaus. Result was the design of a 5 piece `HEAD` series composed of glazed ceramic miniatures representing phantasy personalities. Since entering in contact in June 1985 with the colombian sculptress Blanca Monroy de Bonilla, her working style and object design exerted a strong influence on the later artistic inspiration of the ceramic artist. Blanca Monroy gave first instructive lessons in working material treating, tool handling and proportional body shape design and educated him as model.

In 1993 a stage of the colombian artcraft designer Myriam Rincon Reina in Germany gave the start signal for the continuous work of transforming raw clay into burned and glazed ceramic artcraft, sculptures and objects of daily use. Together the artist couple obtained a ceramic working tool set at Vohwinkel Artcraft Supply and constructed several erotic `ANGEL` sculptures, using the balcony of their apartment towards Staedel Art Gallery as ceramic atelier.

In march 1996 the failed attempt to open an own landscape ecology planning office in Envigado (Antioquia) opened space and time to dedicate himself newly to the improvement of ceramic artcraft techniques by visiting an private sculpturing course in Master Rodrigo Monsalve Isaza`s atelier in Envigado. The colombian artist specialized in religious artcraft design and historic-folcloric sculpturing (f.e. Don Quijotes, Bacchos, personalities of Rafael Pombo`s stories etc.) and the merely human erotic sculpturing of his scholar enriched each other strongly by developing mutual new inspirations. In August a second parallel course at Museo de Antioquia hold by Master Mariela Arango was begun and new techniques as hollow space object construction and surface decoration with engobes and glazes could be learned. During this time the idea of constructing repliques of colombian indigenous ceramics was born. Inspiration therefore was searched at Ethnologic Museum of University of Antioquia (UdeA) and Museo de Antioqua in Medellin and several objects where created in the provisional artists atelier in `Alqueria de San Isidro` at Las Brujas and Escobero Lomas in Envigado.

The loaning of an ceramic kiln by master Monsalve Isaza and the opening of the new IMAGINARTE Shop Gallery in centric Envigado by Gustavo, Jonaira and Nancy Tamayo Duque opened the possibility to begin an more continuous and professional ceramic artcraft design and construction. In january 1997 the ceramic artcraft workshop PIEDRAS DEL RIO was opened inside IMAGINARTE, a great number of artcraft pieces where constructed such as candle carriers for the coffee shop and decorative sculptures and objects, mostly as present for the gallery visitors. The artcraft atelier existed in Envigado until August 1997.

In 1999 the artist and Myriam Reina joined again for the refoundation of the PIEDRAS DEL RIO artcraft studio in Primero de Mayo Quarter, Southern Bogota. Different decoration techniques where experimented and artistic as well as household objects have been constructed. Until june 2002 the artcraft of Piedras del Rio was exposed and sold on local art markets and offered in several shops.

In June 2002 the atelier was refounded in Weilmuenster Germany where the ceramic object design is developed until now since then. An exposition at the Venezuelan General Consulate at Frankfurt was hold from October until November 2007. In 2012 Expositions in Weilmünster Laubuseschbach and Weilburg followed.

Peter Zanger - Female Nude / Design-Study for a Ceramic Sculpture, Spring 1995

Drawings and paintings mostly as human body studies are practized since several drawing courses at Frankfurt Popular Highschool in 1992. The studies serve for the body proportion design of ceramic sculptures. Since 2005 several intents for painting with acryl colours on canvas have been started, but remain exception besides photography and ceramic artcraft design.
